calender is composed of two or more rollers, arranged according to the heating method, can be divided into cold pressing and hot pressing, cold pressing is suitable for materials that do not need heating, such as graphite film, graphite sheet, absorbing materials, shielding materials, magnetic materials, non-ferrous materials, etc. Hot pressing is divided into water heating, electric heating, oil heating and electromagnetic heating. At a certain temperature, the rubber, silicone, silicone rubber, phase change materials, PTFE or plastic and other materials are pressed and extended into a certain thickness and surface shape of the film, and can be fiber curtain canvas or steel cord hanging machinery. According to the number of rolls, the calender can be divided into two rolls, three rolls, four rolls and five rolls. According to the arrangement of rollers can be divided into "L" type, "T" type, "F" type, "Z" type and "S" type.
Ordinary calender is mainly composed of roll, frame, roll distance adjustment device, roll temperature adjustment device, transmission device, lubrication system, control system and roll dismantling device. In addition to the main parts and devices of the ordinary calender, the precision calender is equipped with devices to ensure the calender accuracy, such as pressure holding system and bearing clearance adjustment system.

 

Technical background
Domestic bonded ferrite magnet manufacturers all use the bearing structure of the calender, bearing material is generally copper or nylon, the use of butter lubrication. Bearing bush is easy to wear, resulting in radial runout during roll rotation, and it is difficult to ensure product dimensional tolerance. Therefore, the calender must choose a double-row radial roller bearing with high accuracy, and use thin oil lubrication to reduce bearing wear and ensure the thickness tolerance of the magnetic plate along the length direction.
Due to the poor fluidity of the particles, especially the influence of intermolecular force and roll deflection along the width direction, the rolled magnetic plate often appears thick in the middle and thin on both sides along the width direction. The oversize will cause the coil to be tight in the middle and loose on both sides when winding. To solve the problem of thickness overdeviation, an inverted "L" type four roll calender with complex structure can be used. The calender has the function of shaft crossing and shaft prebending. But the calender structure is complex, expensive, occupies a large area, inconvenient maintenance, plant cost and equipment operating costs are also high. Therefore, it is necessary to design a two-roll open calender with superior performance.

 

The key to the design of two-roll open calender is the structure of roll, the selection of materials, the treatment of roll surface and the determination of technical parameters, followed by the configuration of functions. In terms of the roll structure, we adopted a design of the middle height of the large roll diameter, which is different from that of the rubber and plastic products industry, and the middle height is =(D-d)/2, as shown in Figure 7. The purpose is to compensate the roll deflection caused by rolling stress, improve the rolling force in the middle part of the roll, and force the magnetic powder particles to flow to both sides. At the same time, according to the different roll heating methods that may be adopted during calendering, the hollow roll suitable for steam heating and the peripheral drilling roll suitable for oil heating and water heating are designed. Through production practice, the two heating methods can meet the requirements of roller surface temperature fluctuation error. In terms of material selection, we use alloy chilled cast iron materials with good wear resistance and strong rigidity, and the hardness of the roll working surface reaches HS72 ~ 75. However, the alloy chilled cast iron roll often due to casting defects and additives in the particles may corrosion the roll surface, resulting in a "ice flower cloud spot" after a short time of use, and it is impossible to roll out the smooth surface of the magnetic plate, so special treatment of the roll surface is very necessary. Special treatment mainly has two ways of surface spraying wear-resistant materials and hard chromium plating, we use the latter. In order to enhance the bonding strength of hard chromium and alloy chilled cast iron, nickel plating is required before chromium plating, and the thickness of chromium plating layer after grinding is generally 0.05 ~ 0.08mm. In particular, when producing PVC coated magnetic plates on one side, the horizontal two-roll calender is best configured as a chrome-plated roll and the other as an alloy chilled cast iron roll. Because the surface of the magnetic plate rolled by alloy chilled cast iron roll is relatively rough, it is beneficial to strengthen the bonding strength of PVC film and magnetic plate.
